About Us

Founders Alma and Bill Powell opened the doors of C-K Florist for the first time on May 1, 1958 at its current location at 7th and Poplar Streets in Kenova. Alma operated the florist by herself the first year while Bill continued to operate his other business ventures in town.

Madge Priddy (Alma’s sister) joined the florist in 1959 as a designer. The ladies quickly gained a reputation for beautiful flowers with personable service. Because of the consistent growth of the business the building was expanded to nearly double its size in 1963 to accommodate the demand. Sadly, Madge had to retire from the business in 1977 due to poor health.

After graduating from Ceredo-Kenova High School Bill and

Alma’s son Shane joined the florist in 1975. Within a few

years Shane became a certified Master Floral Designer,

earning his degree through the FTD Florist Worldwide

Training Program.

During the 1980s and 90s the business continued to grow

and Shane (along with wife Debbie) bought the shop and

took over all operations. Alma and Bill retired and spent

most of their time in southern Florida. During this time the

need for expansion was again needed and the building was

expanded to 4,400 square feet.

In 2002 the florist added another valuable employee to the staff, Shane and Debbie’s daughter Jenni Roberts. A graduate of Morehead State University with a BBA, Jenni has quickly gained a reputation for creative wedding designs and planning.  Jenni plans to carry on the family business when Shane and Debbie retire.

Today C-K Florist  operates with a a staff of 6 designers and 3 delivery personnel.

Beautiful flowers

Jenni at CK Flowers did my bouquets and boutineers. The bouquets were gorgeous, the boutineers were absolutely precious. My colors were yellow and grey, but I asked to have some other colors in my bouquet to tie in with my cake (which was decorated with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries). What I ended up with was a HUGE bouquet of gorgeous dahlias, gerbera daisies, billy balls, red roses and bluebells. I had some yarn details in my decor, and she was able to incorporate the yarn into the bouquets as well. I was very satisfied with the work, and I didn't even have to wonder where anything was -- Jenni is a professional, the flowers arrived at the venue unscathed well before she promised them. Would book again!

AMAZINGGGGG experience!

I can't even beginto explain how great the people at CK Florist are at what they do! I had initially went to another florist in town with an out-of-the-box idea for my vintage/country/chic wedding only to be told my ideas were a "hott mess" and he wouldn't be able to do what i wanted. A friend of mine SWORE by Jenni's work and I soon found out she was right. Jenni not only loved my creativity, but she had SO many great ideas and really made my flowers a HUUUUGE hit at my wedding. I still have friends askign me who in the world did my flowers.
Also, she arrived so early to my outdoor wedding to make sure everything was perfect, spraying the flowers, keeping them in the shade for as lonn as possible, ect. Needless to say, Jenni went above and beyond my expectations.
TOTALLY recommend working with CK Florist.

Wedding Experience

Jenni really did a great job at making my vision come to life for my wedding day. I've gotten so many compliments on my flowers. She worked hard to accommodate every request I had and all my arrangements turned out perfectly. I can't quit staring at pictures of my bouquet... Would definitely recommend C-K Florist if you are in need of wedding flowers!
